Health & Wellness Programs
Zumba
Offered seasonally at low cost.
Zumba is a fitness class that combines Latin music, dance moves and resistance training. In just an hour, you’ll get a full-body cardio workout while also having fun! This class is led by a licensed Zumba instructor and is suitable for participants of all fitness levels.
Yoga
Offered seasonally at low cost.
Yoga is a Hindu spiritual, physical and mental practice. It includes breath control, meditation, and the adoption of various postures; it is widely practiced for health and relaxation. This class is for adults only, and helps to foster positive mental health within our community.
One-on-One Therapy
Offered year-round | $5 per session
ACC designed this program to address the mental health disparities affecting the Latino community at large, with an emphasis on serving the Latino youth and their families. The program offers participants the opportunity to meet with a Spanish-speaking, Licensed therapist for one-on-one therapy sessions.
Support Group
Thursdays | 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
ACC offers in-person wellness groups. These groups are led under a trauma-informed practice that aims to create a supportive environment for adults to connect over shared experiences, heal in community and receive support.
Drop-in Support Group: This group is facilitated by Melanie Hommes, licensed therapist every Thursday from 4-5 pm. This is an open drop-in group.
EDUCATION
Programs
Parents as Teachers (PAT)
Offered year-round at no cost.
PAT promotes early optical development, learning and children’s health. Through monthly home visits by a certified educator, we will support and engage parents and caregivers during the crucial first years of the child’s life. This program serves families throughout pregnancy until their child turns 5, and hosts group connections once or twice a month while also providing access to resource networks in the community.
Natural Helpers
Offered seasonally at no cost.
Our “Natural Helpers” Training Program provides community members with leadership training and information on resources and tools that will be used to help our immigrant and/or refugee community more effectively.
USCIS Citizenship Exam Prep
Saturdays | 10:00am – 12:30 pm | $64 for 14 weeks
In this class, students learn the skills and knowledge they need to pass the English test and civics test at their naturalization interviews. (For more information on the contents of these tests, visit the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website.)
